Aloha paddlers!

Welcome to the largest fresh water paddling race in New York State!  The fifth Cayuga Lake Cup takes place Friday - Sunday, August 13 - 15, 2021 at beautiful Myers Park in Lansing, NY.  The event is a 3-day community expo celebrating lake, land, and human wellness in the beautiful Finger Lakes Region of Upstate NY.  Our feature event is a day of stand up paddleboard and outrigger racing on Saturday, August  14.  In addition to racing, we’ve got wellness activities for all ages (paddleboard yoga, aerial yoga, board demos, Hydrilla Hunting, watershed awareness, etc.).

Wednesday-Friday         August 11-13th

Level 1-2: Essentials of Stand Up Paddleboarding Instructor Development Workshop (IDW) & Instructor Certification Exam (ICE)

The American Canoe Association instructor certification process is rigorous, educational, and fun. This three (3) day intensive course will challenge participants both mentally and physically. The IDW-ICE helps students to become acquainted with the ACA model of effective instruction; paddling and leadership necessary in stand Up paddleboarding; and the teaching techniques, paddling skills, technical knowledge, rescue and safety competencies required for successful completion of the Instructor Certification Exam. Participants are recommended to have passed an L2 Skills Assessment prior to participating in the L1-L2 Essentials of Stand Up Paddleboarding IDW-ICE.

This 2 hour outrigger canoe clinic is open to both men and women. We will take one hour to review proper technique and the biomechanics of paddling, and then one hour to video and analyze each paddler's stroke. Paddlers can expect to learn proper body position and which muscle groups to engage for each phase of the paddle stroke, which helps avoid injury and increase efficiency.
